Nissan Micra Review – India

Auto
Value. It is what the Indian consumer is looking for. Whether it is the world’s cheapest car or the best car in the world, we want the most bang for our buck, and this is most apparent in our market’s fast-growing hatchback segment. There are two ways to approach the concept of ‘value’ – one, to offer a low price. Sure, there will be compromises on quality, but you essentially get more car for your money. The other is to provide extra features at the same price as the competition. Nissan had tried the former with the original India-spec Micra, but with the imminent launch of budget sub-brand Datsun, they’re taking the Micra brand to the place it usually occupies in the markets it is present in: the premium end of the…

Volvo S60 Cross Country India review, test drive

Auto
Volvo S60 Cross Price in India   The S60 Cross Country is the stand-out version of the already available S60 sedan with an increased ground clearance, raised suspension and handling tweaks to differentiate it from the regular luxury model. At the first glance, the S60 Cross Country looks like a S60 with lift kit and 19″ alloy wheels but it’s something more than just a four-door, five-seater luxury sedan as it offers two main traits: First, You can take it out on weekends and explore low-level terrain and second is it adapts a unique combination of an SUV and a sedan.   EXTERIOR AND STYLE   It’ll be completely honest here, at first glance, the S60 CC can be quite deceptive. I mean it looks almost exactly like the S60…

Jaguar F-TYPE Reviews, Ratings & Reliability

Auto
Jaguar F-TYPE Price in India   Jaguar has been making sports car even before the company was called Jaguar. Circa 1960, Jaguar launched a vehicle which went and became a design icon, winning several awards for being the world’s most beautiful car, time and again. The design of the Jaguar E-Type is timeless, it looks marvellous even today. Enzo Ferrari had called the E-Type the most beautiful car ever made and we can’t help but agree with him. So it definitely wasn’t easy for Jaguar to design the E-Type’s successor, the F-Type. Launched 39 years after the production of the E-Type stopped, the current F-Type is not Jaguar’s first attempt.   In 1980, Jaguar started work on the F-Type (codenamed XJ41) which was underpinned by the XJ40 sedan. It was…

Last stand of SAS heroes at Tobruk: The ultra-secret British troops who infiltrated enemy lines

Business
To jeers of ‘Dummkopf’, the convoy of lorries from Rommel’s Afrika Korps barely slowed as it sped through the checkpoint on the road into Tobruk. From the front seat, an officer in his Wehrmacht uniform imperiously waved his papers at the Italian soldiers manning the roadblock and barked that he had scores of British prisoners of war captured in the desert to deliver into custody. The Italian sentries lifted the barrier and waved them through. As the three trucks drove on unhindered, the ‘German’ officer could hardly believe the breathtaking bluff had worked. In reality, he was no German but Captain Henry Buck of Britain’s SOE, the Special Operations Executive. As for his 80 ‘prisoners’, crammed on benches in the back of the trucks, they were actually heavily armed British…

The story of Raghu Kumar’s Upstox and how their free investing, user friendly app, shocked the brokerage landscape

Business
As odd as it might sound, my brother (Ravi) and I knew that we wanted to get into the world of trading from a very young age. I grew up in the West (France, Canada, and the USA), and in the West one thing they do very well is cultivate the idea of thinking differently from an early age. When I was 15 or so, my economics teacher had a stock picking challenge for the class. Each student had a small amount of fake money to purchase stocks with. At the end of the year, the student with the highest returns would get a guaranteed top rank. Realising that the chance of winning was going to be very difficult, I knew I had to think outside the box. While everybody…

First Drive: BMW 5-series – Review

Auto
BMW 5-series Price in India   With a new platform and new engines, the 2017 BMW 5 Series looks to reaffirm its standing in the midsize luxury sedan segment. It distinguished itself decades ago as a driver's car and has since evolved into a sophisticated, comfortable sedan that attempts to be all things to most people. In the process, the 5 Series traded some of its driver's car chops for a more isolated feel. The 2017 model doesn't stray far from this contemporary vision of the 5 Series. And despite being a hair larger and bringing an arsenal of technology to bear, the new car manages to avoid the weight bloat that afflicts many such attempts.   BMW didn't take any chances with its successful product. The new 5 Series…
